About watermelon
Watermelon is a summer fruit, at its sweetest from March to July. A ripe one sounds hollow when tapped, feels heavy and has a creamy-yellow patch where it rested on the ground.
Sold per piece; each is roughly 2.5–4 kg.
How we pick it
We pick heavy watermelons with a dull rind, a yellow ground spot and a hollow sound, with no cracks or soft patches.
How to store it
Keep whole in a cool place for up to a week. Once cut, cover with cling film and refrigerate; use within 3 days.
